The government has banned 40 websites linked to the banned organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for supporting separatist activities. The Ministry of Home Affairs gave this information on Sunday. The US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is a pro-Khalistan group.
A spokesperson of the Home Ministry said, ‘Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is a criminal organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. He started a campaign to register supporters for his cause.
On the Ministry of Home Affairs’ recommendation, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) issued orders to ban 40 websites of SFJ under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) is the nodal agency for monitoring cyberspace in India. Last year, the Home Ministry banned SFJ for alleged anti-national activities.
The SFJ, under its separatist agenda, insisted on a Sikh referendum. Another official said that this organization openly supports the purpose of Khalistan and, in doing so, challenges India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
