Students’ Federation of India and MHA asked to Suspend the Rent for Students/Unemployed in India: #PayOurRoomRent #NoRoomRent

#PayOurRoomRent: The Union Home Ministry has issued an order saying that during the outbreak of the epidemic of coronavirus, no landlord will be able to take rent from low level workers. And Student Federation of India solicited the Government from NCT of Delhi and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to genuinely suspend rents for understudies remaining in leased lofts in India through the time of lockdown. But many of the landlords are pressurizing students to pay their rent. That’s why today hashtag #PayOurRoomRent is trending today.

Many students are still stuck in other cities and pressure is being put on them by the landlords to pay the rent. So they are requesting us to come and join their hashtag on social media and raising voices for them. #PayOurRoomRent. Student Federation of India solicited the Government from NCT of Delhi and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to genuinely suspend rents for understudies remaining in leased lofts in India through the time of lockdown.

Amidst the economic crisis, unemployment and no hope for the future, some unemployed youths and students have launched a “hashtag normormant” campaign on Twitter which is one of the topics trending on Twitter these days. 

Sumit Maharshi wrote, ‘We are unemployed and helpless. Every person is harmed during lockdown and we are also suffering. We want the rent to be waived at the time of lockdown.  This campaign is now trending all over the india.
