Indian and Chinese military officials are set to hold long delegation-level talks this morning to resolve the dispute on the Line of Actual Control for over a month. This will be two days after the Foreign Ministry officials of the two countries discussed the growth of tension on the disputed Himalayan border. Before this meeting, China had changed its commander.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during Friday’s meeting, the two sides agreed that according to the guidance provided by their leadership, they “note the importance of respecting each other’s sensibilities, concerns and aspirations.” Keeping their differences through peaceful discussions and should not allow them to become disputes “.

Saturday’s meeting will begin at around 9 p.m. Breakfast will be prepared here after an informal conversation between the officials. After this, formal delegation-level talks will begin. The talks will take place on the Chinese side of the Chushul-Moldo border meeting site.

The Indian delegation of officers will include Lt. General Harinder Singh, the commander of 14 Corps, and 10 other officers who were part of earlier meetings with Chinese counterparts. 

The Chinese side of the delegation will be represented by Major General Lin Liu, Corps Commander, South Xinjiang Military Division, and 10 other officers of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). They were part of the earlier negotiations with India.

Last month, the LAC dispute increased after violent clashes between hundreds of Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Sikkim and Ladakh sectors. Army officials from both sides held several meetings on the disputed border but were unable to break the deadlock.
