An Indian Army soldier was martyred on Monday as Pakistan suffered heavy cross-border gunfire through the continuing ceasefire outrage at the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials stated.
The naib subedar was the fourth soldier to be killed on the LoC following June 5.
Pakistan broke the ceasefire in various areas in Poonch and Rajouri regions previously on Monday.
A defense spokesperson said the Pakistan army disrupted the ceasefire in Poonch’s Krishna Ghati at around 3:30 am on Monday.
“Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector… Indian Army retaliated befittingly,” the spokesperson said.
The ceasefire arrangement was disrupted again by Pakistan in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri at about 5:30 am, the spokesperson replied. Havaldar P Mathiazhagan had also come to Pakistani firing in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district on June 4.
Naik Gurcharan Singh lost his life in conflict on June 10 at the Tarkunde area that Rajouri and Poonch region went onward.
A 29-year-old indian soldier, Lungambui Abonmei, died in Pakistani guns firing in Poonch district on June 14.
Pakistan’s army has disrupted the ceasefire more than 1,400 times this year. Last year, there were 3,168 ceasefire outrages and 1,629 in 2018.
