India Elected an Uncontested Member of the UN Security Council, PM Modi Got Overwhelmed and Thanks to the Global Community.

India has been chosen for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a temporary member from the Asia-Pacific category with a remarkable majority of 184 votes out of 192, where the least necessity was 128.

This was for the eighth time that India has been chosen to UNSC. India has served multiple times before: 1950-1951, 1967-1968, 1972-1973, 1977-1978, 1984-1985, 1991-1992 and 2011-2012.

India was the single competitor in the Asia-Pacific Group (APG) and is coming back to the committee following 10 years beginning January 2021. The last time India served at the UNSC was somewhere in the range of 2011 and 2012.

India was an unopposed competitor in the Asia-Pacific conference and was supported a year ago in June by the APG after Afghanistan resigned its seat for India.

Three decisions were held today at the UN central command in New York which opened just because of March 15 in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 193 people cast their polling forms to choose: President of the following UNGA (75th UNGA), five UNSC non-lasting people from the UNSC, and people from ECOSOC

Indian agent to UN, Ambassador Tirumurti, in a meeting said that he was “sure” of winning the seat and that India will speak to the individuals who don’t have a voice in this elite group of 15.
