Visakhapatnam Gas Leak: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Announced Rs 1 Crore For Each Deceased’s Family

The accident occurred due to leakage of styrene gas from the plant of LG Polymers Limited located in Venkatapuram village under Gopalapatnam in Visakhapatnam.

In the early hours of Thursday, the gas leak had engulfed the villages located within a radius of five kilometers. After the gas leak, the people of this area had complaints of eye irritation, difficulty in breathing, nausea and rash on the body.

According to the Live Heed Source , the employees were preparing to reopen the plant and it happened during this time.

Hundreds of unconscious people and people with difficulty breathing have been admitted to the city’s King George Hospital. Children and the elderly are the most affected in this accident.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced on Thursday the ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore each to the family of each person who died in the gas leak incident at LG Polymer Limited. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has said that 11 people have died in this incident. 

The Chief Minister has also announced that a committee will investigate this incident. At the same time, the state government will talk to the LG polymer management and demand to provide jobs to the family of the deceased. 

After conducting a review meeting, Reddy also announced that those who are on ventilator during treatment will be given Rs 10 lakh, while treatment in the outpatient department (OPD) after facing health related problems due to gas leakage. 25,000 people will be given Rs.

Earlier, he had a review meeting with District Magistrate Vinay Chand and others at Andhra Medical College. The Chief Minister said that one lakh rupees will be given to the people being treated in various hospitals due to gas leaks. 

Ten thousand rupees will be given to the 15,000 population (in each person) of five villages affected by gas leaks. Reddy also announced the formation of a high level committee under the chairmanship of Special Chief Secretary (Environment and Forests) to make recommendations related to preventing such accidents in future.

Earlier, he went to King George Hospital and expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the gas leak. He met the victims undergoing treatment after the gas leak and inquired about his health. 

in the review meeting, the District Magistrate told the Chief Minister that the spread of gas has been limited to an area of ​​1.5 km to two km from the main center of the leak and from there the local residents were safely shifted to other places.
