Nine people were killed when a SUV impacted head-on with a compartment truck on the Lucknow-Prayagraj highway in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police said.
The SUV was going from Rajasthan to Bhojpur in Bihar when the mishap occurred close Wajidpur town in the Nawabganj territory, around 70 km from here.
Three ladies are killed, two youngsters and four men, said Radheyshyam Maurya, the Police Circle Officer of Kunda. They are yet to be recognized, he said.
At the same time, the bodies of the dead were removed and three 108 ambulances and a pick-up vehicle were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. Additional SP Dinesh Kumar, SDM Kunda Jal Rajan Chaudhary, CO Kunda Radheshyam and several police forces reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported.
The truck driver left the truck and escaped from the spot. It is being told that the truck was going from Mohania to Faridabad. In which the straw is loaded.
