Harbhajan Singh on Greg Chappell’s Statement, Dhoni’s Worst Days in Indian Cricket

Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh of the Indian team on Wednesday described former team coach Greg Chappell’s tenure as the worst time in Indian cricket. Chappell had said about Mahendra Singh Dhoni on a show that he advised Dhoni to play the shot down instead of hitting the ball outside the boundary every time.

Harbhajan Singh tweeted, “He advised Dhoni to play the shot down, because the coach was taking everyone out of the ground.” He was playing different games. The worst days of Indian cricket under Greg Chappell’s coaching. “

In this statement of the chapel, Harbhajan Singh has tweeted and explained why he had given such advice to Dhoni.

Greg Chappell also said about Dhoni that he had not yet seen a stronger batsman than Dhoni. Chappell was the coach of the Indian team from 2005 to 2007. His tenure however was full of controversies and he had differences with many senior players including the captain and presently BCCI President Sourav Ganguly

On A Facebook page with the Playwright Foundation, Chappell said, “I remember that I was shocked when I saw Dhoni batting for the first time.” At that time he was the brightest cricketer in India. He used to hit the ball in quite different positions. Of all the batsmen I have seen, he is the most powerful.

He said, “I remember his innings of 183 runs against Sri Lanka. His powerful batting was excellent at that time. The next match was in Pune and I told Dhoni why don’t you play by keeping the shot down instead of getting every ball across the boundary. In the next match, we were chasing a target of around 260 and were in good condition. He was batting unlike what Dhoni had batted a few days ago. ”

Chappell said, “We wanted 20 runs and Dhoni had asked me to hit a six through 12th player RP Singh. I said, not until the goal is scored in single digits. Then when we needed six runs, they ended the match by hitting six. “
