The ruling party at the center targeted the opposition party, citing the statement of a former High Court judge and currently member of Congress in defense of the arrested diamond trader.
Addressing reporters via video conference, senior BJP leader and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Abhay Thipsay, a retired judge of the Bombay and Allahabad High Court, became a witness in defense of Nirav Modi and claimed that against Nirav Modi No case of fraud and criminal conspiracy will be able to stand before the law. The Union Law Minister alleged that Thipsay was working on behalf of the Congress, not in his personal capacity.
The BJP leader said that thipsay is not a big name in the legal field.
Prasad alleged, “Such concrete suspicious circumstances exist that we can say that the Congress is doing its best to save Nirav Modi.”

The Union Minister said that Indian investigative agencies will respond effectively to Thipsay’s statement. The senior BJP leader alleged that the Congress tried to save Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi in every way. Now that he has been arrested, a retired judge associated with the Congress is trying to save him.
He claimed that matters related to Nirav Modi belonged to the rule of Congress.
Prasad said that the Narendra Modi government seized his property (Nirav), auctioned it and is now working towards making him stand in the dock of justice.
