GST Tax Reduced In Everyday Items As Oil, Toothpaste, And Soap: Finance Ministry

The central government has given massive help to citizens on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) front. The Finance Ministry said that the tax rate of everyday use items like hair oil, toothpaste, and soaps reduced to 18 percent from 29.3 percent in the pre-GST period.

The ministry said that before, 230 items were in the most noteworthy 28 percent charge section. Today, the slab of 28 percent is demanded uniquely on non-benefit and luxury things. Of these, 200 items have been moved to bring down pieces. The service said the lodging park falls under the expense section of five percent. Simultaneously, the rate of GST on average houses has been diminished to one percent. 

Film tickets were recently burdened from 35 percent to 110 percent; however, in the GST system, it is 12 percent and 18 percent. Most things of everyday use are in zero or five percent sections.

Apart from this, companies with a turnover of up to Rs 1.5 crore can opt for a composition scheme. They only have to pay a one percent tax. The ministry said that earlier, 230 products were in the highest 28 percent tax slab. 

Today, 28 percent slab is levied only on non-profit and luxury items. Of these, 200 products have been moved to lower slabs. The ministry said the housing sector falls under the tax slab of five percent. At the same time, the rate of GST on cheap houses has been reduced to one percent.
